It often amazes me how many people travel thousands of kilometres to see "Ayres Rock", and for the first time in their lives they stop, and really watch the colour and mood changes as the sun melts into the horizon
Artists who have "learned to see", are acutely aware of these dramatic changes wherever they may be. I prefer the early and late lights; these penetrate into interesting patterns which at other times are concealed by shade. They also provide maximum modelling of less distinct features. I never tire of painting. Each creek, tree, cliff face or river has its own character. Each presents its own challenge. There are constant frustrations but many rewards.
